Smokin' Sons of Stratford were born the way all great bands should be;
through friendship,questionable decisions,and a lockdown pub quiz. what started as a bunch of long term mates surviving Covid over video calls somehow turned into one the loudest and most entertaining cover bands around.
it began when Andy revealed he'd been secretly started learning to drum on the quiet-an impressive achievement for any drummer.
James, genuine musician and veteran of alt-rock outfit Brigade, heard about it and suggested a jam session in a mates farm shed.
Soon after, Pat dusted off a guitar for the first time in 30 years. Oli turned up with a keyboard, and Bob resurrected his bass-playing skills.
The final piece of the puzzle arrived unexpectedly when Andys daughter Mads wanted to sing aTaylor Swift song. Turns out she could really sing- and just like that the band was complete.
Made up almost entirely of Stratford St Andrew locals (the Suffolk one, not the East London one)Smokin' Sons of Stratford play strictly for the love of music, friendship and a good night out. From Bon Jovi to Tina Turner, The Struts to Lola Young, they bring big songs, big energy, and absolutely no volume control
Ella Skirrow
Ella Skirrow is an acoustic indie singer-songwriter from Ipswich, whose original music blends heartfelt lyrics with warm intimate melodies. She often shares the stage with local musicians and co-creates vocal harmony arrangements taking inspiration from Boygenius and Phoebe Bridgers. Her live sets balance honest songwriting with a relaxed energy, performing at venues such as the Baths, the Smokehouse and the St Stephen church.
Sam Milne and the Tyrants
Sam Milne is a 17 year old from Ipswich,who plays original indie rock music with his backing band The Tyrants. Sam has played venues across Ipswich and opened the Brighton the corners festival in 2025.
His lyrics touch on the desperation of teenagers,the current state of global politics and confused romance,taking inspiration from acts like Sam Fender and Fontaines D.C.
From writing his first single Window with his best friend to selling out venues across East Anglia , Sam's stature in the Suffolk music scene has grown from strength to strength
Aviation
Aviation are a 5-piece rock band from Ipswich, playing raw and energetic covers across Suffolk. Forming in college in late 2025, their teenage make-up provides a captivating youthful energy, connecting audiences with emotion and excitement. Aviation have played in venues across Ipswich winning the fan vote at Suffolk One's BOTB in March . Aviation are well on their way to taking the Suffolk music scene by storm.
